14 June 2026: Stonepit Field – field visit
This event was an innovation for the Group since it asked participating members to undertake some preparatory homework and to be ready to get down on their hands and knees for a closer look at species – those among the Daisies/Composites (Asteraceae) and Legumes (Fabaceae), which can be difficult to identify in the field .

10 May 2026: Linford Wood – field visit
The visit to Linford Wood aimed to spot Ancient Woodland Indicator (AWI) plants and learn more about what they can tell us—how long a woodland has been around, and how it’s been managed over the years. The main goal was to find the ultimate AWI Herb Paris and this mission was accomplished and more! A descriptive report of the visit is available here or as a downloadable file.

12 October 2025: Shenley Wood -field visit
The Plant Group paid a return visit to Shenley Wood on Sunday 12 October, the first having been on 28 April 2024. Shenley Wood is an area of ancient woodland, with a number of ancient woodland indicator plants which we were able to observe, as well as spending time on the identification of ferns. 13 July 2025: Pilch Fields SSSI – field visit
On the morning of Sunday 13 July, the Plant Group made a field visit to Pilch Fields, a small site just off the Bletchley-Buckingham road not far from Thornborough Bridge, which was designated as a SSSI in 1976. The Society has made field visits there many times, usually in late April to see Cowslip, Green-winged Orchids and other unusual plants, such as Adders Tongue. This visit was timed to see the flora characteristic of later in the year. A descriptive report of the visit is available here or as a downloadable PDF.

11 May 2025: Rammamere Heath – field visit
