The 2026 Photo Competition is now open to all members of the Society.
Any non-members who would like to participate are welcome to join the Society in order to take part; you can join online: https://mknhs.org.uk/membership/ 

The closing date for entries was 03 February 2026. After an initial shortlisting process of voting by members, the top 2 photos in each of the 5 categories have been selected, and we move on to Round 2 of voting, through which the top 3 winners will be selected. Round 2 of voting is now open, and members have until the end of Tuesday 17 March to cast their votes. 

The winners will be announced at the Society’s Tuesday evening meeting on 24 March 2026 and the overall winner presented with the Ron Arnold Shield.

The five categories are:

1. Birds
2. Invertebrates
3. All other animals, including mammals, fish, etc.
4. Plants and fungi
5. Habitats, geological, astronomical
