Fungus Walk and workshop - Dancersend

    10:00 amDancersend

Dancersend 'Walk and Workshop' (SSSI - BBOWT) joint with BBOWT. A new all day format with a (slightly shortened) morning walk in the reserve to collect specimens, we then return to the Waterworks buildings (kindly provided for our use by Head Warden Mick Jones) to work on identification with microscopes, keys and books with help from Derek and Penny. Come for just the walk or stay on for the identification session, in which case you’ll need a packed lunch (coffee / tea will be available). Those with scopes may come early and set up before the 10.00 walk, from 9.15 onwards. Any books you like to use, together with a notebook, would be useful.

NB There was a promising response for this event and we can accommodate a maximum of 14 for the id session, therefore priority will be given to those few members with scopes. Remaining places will be offered to those who responded to Penny’s initial enquiry about the event: Penny will be checking with you a few weeks beforehand.

Dancersend, once owned by the Rothschild family, is mixed woodland and well-recorded with a rich variety of fungi. Meet at SP 905 089 at the old waterworks buildings. Turn south onto a narrow minor road off the A4011 immediately before its junction with the A41, signed Dancersend, and follow for about 1 1/2 miles. The narrow driveway up to the buildings is on your left.
