    RSPBNBLG Walk

10:00 amWhipsnade & Dunstable Downs, Bedfordshire

RSPB logoThe RSPB North Bucks Local Group are leading a field trip to:

Location: Our field trip to this area last year was in mid-May - specifically to see the rare Duke of Burgundy butterfly - and we succeeded. They are usually on the wing between mid-May and mid-June - so there's still a chance of us seeing one with this mid-June visit.

However, the area has so much more to offer - the chalk downlands attract 31 other species of butterfly and, at the end of June, many the wild orchids will be at their peak.
We hope to hear (and see) several warblers and other scrub birds - great views too from one of South East England's highest points.

Steep slopes and narrow pathways are unfortunately not suitable for wheelchairs.
Parking in Chiltern Gateway Visitor Centre car park - now £3.50 per day (free for National Trust members)
Meet at Visitor Centre, off the B4541 one mile south of Dunstable
Cafe and toilets in the Visitor Centre.
    Postcode: LU6 2GY (Google map)

A return visit. Last year we went in search of rare Duke of Burgundy butterflies ... & found them.
What will we see this year?

    Time: 10am to 1pm

Price: Free event - parking charge £3.50
